Bought this Defiant TV set December 2017. The Plessey Mark 1 chassis was easy get going but later on the set suffered the fate of having it's chassis donated to the Decca TV cabinet I bought from a charity shop earlier that year. This is the cabinet that had been painted green. All that horrible mess has been stripped off to reveal a beautifully veneered cabinet.
The plan is to rebuild the set as the Decca model 101 and the humble Plessey chassis was fitted in this up-market set.
A forum member kindly donated another Plessey chassis which can with a few minor modifications be made to fit in the Defiant cabinet. The chassis is the Mark 2 and is equipped with the Mazda 0.1 and 0.2amp range of valves. The two heater chains join up to supply the heaters of the two Mullard ECL80 triode-pentodes also used in this chassis.
The chassis is likely to be similar to the one installed in the Regentone BIG12/5.
The spacing between the front controls is differs by only 12mm. The easy solution is drill new holes in the cabinet front panel but that's too easy and special brackets are to be made and fitted to the front of the chassis.
