You make a very important point Trevor Driving has become a chore. I know nothing beats the buzz of your first set of wheels but it soon become obvious that the promised freedom is a bit of an illusion.
The roads were a lot lot less busy in the 60's and 70's and vehicle on average were a lot slower.
Today even the family runabout is quicker than most 1960's sports cars.
I have to say that the Y has put some of the fun back in for now but I am often sorely tempted to turn on autopilot
.Funnily enough I think I still prefer driving the Mitzi .
