I remember that it was reported that it was said by him. Also IBM initially said that there was no need for more than 4 (four!) computers in The Netherlands. And my fisrt HDD was the whole of 5Mb - full height.

Maybe he really meant the world only needs four cloud operators. The Cloud, like 1960s in that it's someone else's server.

My first HDD was also a full height 5 M Byte.

Me too regarding 5MB full height hard disk. In my case I interfaced it to my Sinclair QL by hacking the software to look like a giant floppy disk. It used an Inmos T212 transputer disk controller. Doing that is how I learnt to code in 68k assembler and C after moving from 8 bit computers. Seems a long time ago now but I still build things in the same way - square pad board with soldered wire wrap wire. I remember taking the just started board on holiday to get it finished.
