Yes, the T1 is amazing compared to the big beefy FC40.
The big issue with a home brew manual ATU, like the one I had on the FT101ZD, is that the voltage on on or other of the variables caps can get massive.
Simple ATU needing wide plate spacing on caps. Allows a short (can be vertical) and long wire, which is the simplest way to cover 160m to 10m.
Used on FT101ZD.
