Found wiring errors on the timebase unit. These have been put right and the unit will be reinstalled in the cabinet later today.
When the set came into my possession thirty years ago the capacitors were a mixture of yellow and blue LCR types. Nothing wrong with such components but don't look right in this eighty-seven year old receiver. The replacement capacitors are re-stuffed EMI components.
