I suspect that OE Classic doesn't have very good spam filtering.

I switched to Thunderbird for email many years ago. Its spam filtering is OK but not perfect. If you decide to switch to Thunderbird it can easily import everything from OE.

I have my own domain (borinsky.co.uk) so I use a different email address for every organisation I deal with. Usually in the form yourorganisation@bori...etc. Then if an organisation gets hacked I can block the offending address and use a new one with them if necessary. It has happened with large and respectable companies. I appreciate that having your own domain isn't the right approach for most people.

Not part of Gary's question but always avoid using email addresses linked to your ISP. That's a historic approach which is almost guaranteed to give you trouble at some point. Usually if you move to a different ISP but other troubles are possible.
