I've lit the regulator tube but the appearance is underwhelming - I can just make out some pink glow through some small gaps in the electrode construction. it runs at about 95 volts. Reading about these things I see that something is needed to initiate the discharge daylight, or in some cases a small piece of radioactive isotope is used. better check since this is quite an early tube ...
