Virgin media technician came this afternoon, a new extension socket was fitted near the hub and (BT to RJ11) cable supplied to connect to it.
Existing extensions were disconnected from incomming line and joined to new extension (2 wires only).
Phones appear to work as before (1 Cordless basestation + 1 wired DTMF unit).
