One thing I, and everyone else, forgot to say about welding is you must keep your rods dry. If you do a bit of research you'll find all sorts of wierd and wonderful ideas for little ovens to do it, but I just keep mine indoors on top of a radiator, and take them out as required. Of course it's as well to be discrete. SWMBO knocking a box of rods onto her feet will not be popular
