Greetings, I have built an RC2014 kit and have other vintage and retro computer systems too.You will find the documentation, such as it is, a bit scattered. There are some quite active forums dedicated to the RC2014 and similar which you will find invaluable, I'm sure. look here:

and here too:

You will need to supply a serial terminal and interface to operate the RC2014, a simple USB to TTL convertor is usually used. on WIndows TeraTerm is a suitable VT100/ANSI terminal emulator. When you get up and running you will find a need to transfer programs and data back and forth to your PC, I would recommend that you get xmodem or similar working as soon as you can. There are even better more sophisticated transfer systems but they usually need additional hardware.
There are some useful software archives with CP/M programs, if santa is feeling generous the you may get a CP/M version of the RC2014...

When I got my RC2014 I intended to try and run A BBS systems on it, never actually got around to that but I have used it with a modem.
I now have a real vintage Wyse terminal for my rero computers which feels right for them.
If you need any questions answering I'm happy to help.
Kind regards, David.
