Just had a thought, that a small magnet placed on the neck of the tube in a required position could be used to offset the spot to enable the scan to be central if flyback is not capable of providing a -X to +X or -Y to +Y scan width.

A bit like the magnetic centring rings sometimes found on the back of the scan coil assembly, but something possibly a bit stronger?
