In a way that,s good to hear. I would prefer it to be due to the transformers were marginal rather than it being because of green spot.
I whipped out the EHT transformer today and dismantled it. The EHT winding it separate to the rest of the windings. Photo below shows the transformer windings with the EHT winding on the right.
There is a lot of waxed paper used in it. The wax has dried out and gone hard making it very difficult to unwind. I have it soaking in white spirit at present hoping to soften the wax.
I was able to unwind enough to determine it is wound with 0.08 mm ECW. This is he thinnest wire that I have ever seen in a mains transformer. It is difficult to see it surviving even a brief short.
