Use your phone with google maps or Wayz. Other apps available, some free, others paid. Maps always up to date. Subject always to database errors which will can be present on any satnav. It also knows about just about anything that can be searched online. So, for example, you can navigate to the XYZ Museum without knowing its address. We did our recent trip to Sussex entirely with google maps. No trouble at all.
Only problem is when you have no mobile signal. A short dropout is no problem as it can dead reckon for a while, especially if GPS reception is OK, but complete absence of mobile signal means you don't have usable maps. It may be possible to download maps to use offline but I've not yet tried.
When we were in Ireland a few years ago the rental car had built-in satnav. Quite a new car but it didn't know about a new-ish motorway class road that we were using. The phone was fine.
