No idea how smooth. The rectifiers and inverters will be at least 6 phase (think of full wave rectification of 3 phase) and 12 phase is common. So the DC will be relatively smooth to start with. I would expect the capacitance of the cables will give some useful smoothing. I don't know how much extra smoothing is used.
