Illegal Modified Cars

Bob I appreciate you have been an MOT inspector but not all HID and LED Headlights have to be fitted with self levelling and washers It really depends on the brightness of the bulb and height of them.

For example this is a section out of the DVLA Individual vehicle approvals, something that is constantly being updated, and then as far ass I know MOT rules to match all be it some time later, but they must eventually match.

Note 2: In the case of a left hand drive vehicle where the headlamp height above the ground does not exceed 850mm, the requirement for headlamp cleaning shall not apply.
Note 4: Where vehicles are fitted with Gas Discharge or LED Headlamps there is no requirement for headlamp self-levelling or cleaning if the total light output is below 2000 Lumens (evidence must be provided).

Just await the final decisions on New Cars in 2022 with the proposed new EU rules, that the UK goverment will follow as car plants would not wish to have different lines for UK only models.
