Probably floated the scope because I would also have needed to float whatever was supplying video to the monitor. No problem on 405 as it can be the Aurora with its internal testcard. The less that's floated the better. Having a monitor, BNC cable and signal source all floating at a few 10s of volts doesn't seem like a good idea.
