One other thing Andy.
The mains tx has no end shields and Rob notices when he gets closer to the amp with his guitar the hum goes up. So either the mains tx is leaking magnetic fields due to the lack of screening or he has badly screened pick up heads or another screening issue.
TBH there are a lot of variables here that are all adding up to the issue. EG the addition of a more sensitive speaker with good LF response, mains tx inadequately screened, poor earthing methods in the amp, issues with guitar screening and perhaps other issues we as yet don't know about.
