You're making the much broader point that an image that has been cropped will be a smaller file size - no argument there, obviously.

Sorry but with respect Mark it was you in post #21 who said I was talking about a broader point (file size). I never mentioned file size in my post #20 neither did I intend to.
All I wanted to do was correct your statement which was "As I say, I'm not aware of any reason why the order matters between resize and crop - it's a matter of "operator preference". "
I believe I managed what I set out to do.

This thread is titled Image resizing, not reducing image file size.
And of course we dont want to confuse the issue by including image view size or print size.

Yes of course file size is a function of pixel count and any compression that may have been applied.
