Replacement guns are an interesting question. WIth the correct skills and equipment it's possible to dismantle a gun, replace the heater/cathode assembly and re-assemble the gun. That simply moves the question - where do you get heater/cathode assemblies?
In 1986 when I supervised the rebuild of a pre-war 6/6 the skills to rebuild a gun were available and critically, the 4V 1A 3mm diameter heater-cathode assembly was readily available, as it was used in other CRTs that were still in production for professional usage.
I have no idea if HK assemblies suitable for CRTs are still in production. Different ones for some valves (eg KT66) are still made, presumably in Russia.
