The stereo buffs remind me of when I shared a flat with a train enthusiast. The flat was a cheap and nasty structure with stud partition walls without any sound deadening and my bedroom headboard backed up again the sitting room wall. I woke up one morning to the sounds of steam trains crossing over my pillow as my flat mate had turned his speakers to face the wall.
I must admit that I do like perfection in reproduction both in sound and vision but for general convenience I wouldn't want to go back to earlier methods.
