Hi,
Many thanks for the kind comments Mark; Rob and Tony they are much appreciated.
I'm always on the lookout for offcuts of both wood and metal; even a small piece of oak can produce such an handle and costs nothing. Our neighbour replaced his staircase three years ago and I was very happy to accept the old one as it is solid hardwood and I've not been on the forum much recently as I've been very busy making a comb jointed box from some of this hardwood; the box is to house the 45 wave winder gears I made. I hope to add details of the box shortly once it is French polished to show what can be made from free materials.
It's a full time job being retired; there are not enough hours in a day.
Kind regards,Col.
