Oh dear H&S.
If people realised the things that many did over years they'd be shocked.
Take me for instance I resprayed a Mazda 1800 estate in a closed garage with two pack paint and didn't have breathing gear, it was cyanide based!
I used to always put solder in my mouth, I've worked with hundreds of leaky Murphy oil filled LOPT, then told by some it's dangerous, I've swallowed petrol, diesel, used all sorts of solvents, got RF burns, belts off EHT and Mains, and done many other daft things. I've not gone mad yet, sat two radio amateur exams in 5 weeks, and will do the full by July. Many engineers have admittedly passed but there are others that like me were in amongst all this and also smoked and drink like a fish and live into their 90s, others get run over by a bus and die young, and some are terrified at the thought of coming anywhere near solvent paint or anything written on the tin that has a warning and again still pass at a relative young age.
Just use common sense, eat well, sleep well and have a positive outlook and you'll be fine.
