Great write up and some interesting things that have turned up.
I've found doing some radio projects how easy they can take off into oscillation. Screening is basically obligatory, this was the case with the transmitter I played about with. It would just go into oscillation and rattle out a fair power when it felt like it. Adding a screen around the 1J29B cured that but the PA stage was touchy as well, it needed a screen stopper as well fed from a potential divider that was decoupled. Using a high value resistor from HT didn't work in the TX the screen stopper was 1k. It's now dismantled, hopefully will get back to something else some time this year.
In fact I did use a 1П24Б as a line output valve with some success for the MW6-2 2.5 inch projection CRT I was able to generate sufficient output to drive full line scan and derive around 5kv EHT.
Next time I will try it as a self oscillating output stage. The issue though is what reclaim Diode to use, silicon do not like valve circuits as the on off transition is too soft.
