I don't mind doing that simple power mod on the 33 so I'll have plenty of power for whatever opamp I choose.
According to my stock list I have plenty of TL062 and TL082, plenty of TL071 and TL074 but only 3x TL072. Just a solitary 5532 and 4x 5534. Others I have are TLC272, TLC27M2 and TLC2272. And just one OP275 which I'll probably keep for an application that really needs super audio performance. Anyway, if I fit a socket I can fit whatever 8 pin dual I feel like. I won't be into "chip rolling".
You're right about making that power/input lead captive but I really dislike captive leads on equipment. I've often shortened a captive mains lead to 6" or so and fitted an IEC male.
