A modern ship is like a small town, especially cruise ships, I've seen petite Indian women with mattresses piled high on their heads, I'm 6ft and struggle with one. So apart from steel, there's miles of copper cable & piping, insulation type materials,plastic of all sorts by the ton not to mention hazardous chemicals,.

Still, if the ships weren't re-cycled there the locals wouldn't have jobs, there are 1000's who depend on the work, like everything, it's not black & white.
