Incredible work. How do you achieve the symmetry? I guess you start with a block of wood then use calipers etc. I admire folk who can do very detailed fastidious work, I really haven't the temperament or dexterity of hands to do work like that. I used to be able to tie complicated fiddly fishing knots as a kid but manual labour and other abuse has knackered my hands. Work like yours also requires sustained focus, another thing I lack,still, I admire it in others, hats off to you.
I've watch the odd video on Youtube about shipping both contemporary and in the past. The 60's looks like when everything started to change, the last gasp of Empire, the dawn of massive bulk carriers and container shipping. All the big docks now gone in London as has that way of life of manually loading and unloading cargo, so guess the ships changed.
One interesting side of this is ship scrapping in India,the basically drive a big ship at a flag on the beach at full tilt then a load of women and men strip the ship down by hand wearing no safety gear but flip flops and scarves tied round their face. They are currently scrapping less than 10 year old cruise ships; crazy, that's shipping for you.
