A very few years ago we picked up a rental car in Amiens which turned out to be a Fiat 500 on steroids. The sort where you could get an original Fiat 500 in the boot. With some difficulty we got the satnav system to speak English rather than Italian. For some reason the satnav was a bit iffy and the signs out of Amiens were none too clear. Plenty of Toutes Directions. Getting out of the town in the right direction was a bit of a trial.

Yes, we did have a road atlas of France and it was up to date. Not much use in a town.
