We have a neighbour, we'll call him Sidney Tesla. (name changed, slightly
) plug fuses are always changed to 25×6mm section of cut down bolt, (plugs never used them before, theres a decent fuse indoors), people only lend him stuff once. He has a big shed where he does his wood working, it has no fixed supply or consumer unit, but it does have a ring main though. How he uses it is with his 50m extension lead that he plugs in and switches on at the house and unreels as he walks to the shed when he gets there he plugs it in to the shed ring main.
Yes, a plug either end. Not surprised? It gets better. Its two core wire, he told me, he says if there's no earth wire they are safer, all modern stuff has two core wire he says, "don't yew know nuffin gal?" Well he's 86, and got this far.
