One project I'd like to tackle would be sub miniature valves for a radio front end and use a transistor AF, a neat method of realising early design hybrid radios was with a small HT battery for the valves in the signal stages and the LT battery for the filaments also supplying the AF amplifier.

I'll have to dust of the valve vhf project when I can get a chance, it will save just laying about all the time.
