I use the Simple Radio app on my phone plugged in to an SSTran AM pantry transmitter. Quality is very good, particularly on my Hacker (obtained thanks to Mark H's influence) 
, but I've noticed the app only gives a mono signal, though of course connected to a pantry transmitter this doesn't matter. If I want stereo I plug my headphones into the phone and go direct to the internet station's site... eg. Jib-on-the-web.
