Hi.
I agree that some Murphy designs make you scratch your head. Let's not forget other manufacturers have some iffy designs. I worked for Sony UK for 5 years and the number of service bulletins would curl your hair, modifications, component changes etc and some due to bad design in the first place.
I've come across numerous madness in vintage radio and TV so although Murphy at times seem to be rather strange in the main they are no worse than others and in many ways better.
