You'd not be able to sub the ECH81 or any AC valve for a rod pentode array as you need a DC filament supply.
A tiny bridge and a smoother could be enough, just like in the audio preamp I built with a 1J24B for my pye black box record player to enable the use of a low output ceramic cartridge.
