I believe I have one of those Luminition units 'new in box' stored somewhere but I haven't seen it for a while. One of my early electronic successes was with a unit I built from a Maplin design. 12V running an invertor to 400V and thryristor discharge triggered via points. I still have that too! Not having a car at that time the only time it was used was by a friend who had his first car. Starting became iffy and the battery was poor so I lent him the unit for a while until he got the problem sorted. It was a sight to see two or three lads jump out before they moved on to push start the car most everytime. It worked brilliantly though with mostly instant starting, so I was well pleased. They finally located the problem to a defective coil.
