Back in the 1970's, there were lots of magazine articles and various kits to add electronic ignition to cars. One of the most popular brands of kit suppliers was "Sparkright" which retained the use of the points to trigger a transistor circuit to pulse the coil. Of course these were all intended for 12V operation. I have a good them file on that stuff if it could help in any way
I've never been a bike/scooter owner and can't recall how the magneto arrangement works. I do have a lawn mower which has a transistor module in its ignition circuit and the module is just sooo expensive to buy!
