Quite an performance with tweezers to get the bits back in the box.
Of course the 16 uF 150V cap now doesn't have enough slack in its leads to get that last nut on, that's under it. However, still works after reassembly. It's got to be the smallest valve output transformer I've ever seen, so just as well the DL96 was croaking.
I thought the hard bit on this was going to access to the paper dielectric capacitors. Instead it was the LO coil. Also I've only replaced three valves in a B7G battery valve set before when they were missing. Mostly they are OK, most common issue is the filament on o/p valve followed by a worn out DK96 or DK92 or DK91 or 1L6. Then the IF/RF amp and detector/pre-amp valves rarely need replaced.
I'll touch up the vinyl skin on the wooden case with some nail varnish, do the PSU and find a belt to make into a handle. I'll see after dusk what MW is like, but I think it should be good as the sensitivity on the signal generator was good.
