Transistor assisted ignition for vintage scooter

I think Trevor's circuit would work well enough for a standard battery and coil setup but additions may be detremental to the advantages of a magnetto ignition circuit. I remembered I had a book which I picked up somewhere years ago (I hate to get rid of anything lol), and have managed to find it. It gives some of the therory here but note: It is being applied to racing engines so may be over the top for this application but will perhaps prove useful background. The book is "Two Stroke Tuner's Handbook" written by Gorden Jennings and produced by H.P.Books  1973.
