Addendum.
This works on 6 volt systems but would require PNP transistors for positive earth, the second transistor needs to be adequately rated for both current and back emf off the coil.
It also may work with a MOSFET.
You still need the 220nf cap as its to tune the coil, it won't work with a reverse polarity Diode.
