Frank, since you can't get TBCs for 405 that's not a solution. Designing a 405 line TBC isn't that hard but you might as well do the conversion to 625 at the same time. The problem remains the 405 line front end. If you can get a good phaselocked clock then that's a lot of the problem solved but recovering a good clock from a manky signal isn't that easy. The decoder chips that we use do it pretty well from 625 and 525 VCR replay but Frank's design is clearly unhappy with 405 replay. I don't yet know about mine. I expect it to be reasonable and I'm using a full framestore so there's a good chance.
