If I plant trees I try to choose ones that produce fruit that I like to eat where practical.
Even gooseberries can be used as a security hedge. I am yet to find an evergreen fruit plant sutible for security hedging that has nice fruit. Fire-thorn still lives here.
It is cut flowers that get me. Fancy cutting the reproductive organs off a plant only to take them indoors to ogle at them.
