Back in the day at college, we also did practical stuff to supplement the theory, working from “Lab sheets”.
First sheet was to set up an ECC83 circuit, vary some parameters record some measurements, plot the data etc.
It was a good learning curve and would probably end with you being asked a question such as:
Why was the output signal less than what you calculated?
I think I said it was due to component tolerances, but of course the real answer led on to Miller capacitance and we would discuss that; moving on to Tetrodes and discovering their flaws and so on.
I think it was a good way to learn.
