I usually tend to avoid veroboard due to some disasters in my yoof!
I always use double sided copper clad board, which is ideal for RF, but with the added bonus that depending on what you are constructing, you can be lazy with your grounding.
The rotary switch that I used was a proper Radio ham type job, which has dual wafers per pole, so I was able to switch the feed and returns on each channel.
