I was surprised too Mike, an amplifier with 8% distortion should sound horrible, this was only a brief test though, maybe if you had to listen to such a setup for a good while with different types of music the outcome wouldn't be as good. I'll look into it further but suspect it'll go nowhere, interesting though.
"Personally, I find amplifiers pretty boring these days" Your a lot further on Mark though, I'm only just learning about all this stuff. "Swapping and changing various pieces of their gear to try and obtain that objective seems perfectly natural to me." Guitarists do it too, searching for The Tone; blokes an things that make noise with knobs on. Shame we can't get our hands on explosives.
