Reminiscent of Robert Millikan's oil-drop experiment, where the charges he managed to put on his oil-drops were sufficiently small that he could see they were in discrete steps - from which he deduced the charge on an electron.
Looking forward to next instalment Being able to count individual electrons is pretty impressive
