Could be an even simpler problem than output stage current drift - I was given an RP33 Autocrat whose two previous owners had each tired quickly of its heavy battery consumption. Quiescent current was around 75mA and two-thirds of that were just serving to warm up a very leaky 80uF C11 on the amplifier board, which is wired straight across the 18 volt supply.
