They are very crude - a bridge, minimal to no smoothing capacitance, and a constant current IC that is completely linear. It works because the current requirement of the LED strings is low, but the voltage is fairly high.
But they all flicker like a strobe light. I can't bear them. I left a restaurant lit entirely by these things with a really bad headache and haven't been back since. Of course, no-one else could see the flicker I was complaining about, but even if you can't directly see it, you might still be affected by it (I learnt that in the '90s when everyone used CRT computer monitors). I'd take the RFI over the flicker every time, but it's a shame you can't tell what you're going to get from the packaging.
