A careful examination of the Sangean ATS818 user manual and both the Roberts RC828 and Sangean ATS818ACS as well as photos and my model suggests that the only difference with the later model is the case colour and 9 extra presets on FM. I've only found those three User Guides, not the Sangean ATS818CS / Roberts CS818.
Certainly I'd find 18 on FM and 9 on SW more useful than the current RC818 /Sangean ATS818 / Sangean selection of 9 on FM and 18 on SW. I can't imagine even using all 9 on SW. Of course in the mid 1990s there were more English Language stations on SW. Mistakenly the West thinks that Streaming, Satellite and some local FM is a substitute for SW. It's complementary and Streaming the wrong station could be life threatening in some countries if not blocked. Dishes can be a problem. Only friendly countries will allow local FM relays.
Mind, apart from a brief experiment in 1948, Ireland has NEVER had a real external Broadcast service, despite the Irish Diaspora and interest in Irish culture, position in UN etc. The UK Satellite, 252 kHz version of RTE 1 Radio and streaming are lip service to the idea of a foreign service. I lived abroad for a year 1989-1990 and only had BBC WS & VOA, no Irish news at all. It's a shame so many iconic Western countries packed it in basically as small cost saving. It was cheap diplomacy to the rest of the work, never mind travellers without Internet or satellite.
