Nowhere near close as it became conductive in the area of the U25 EHT rectifier!
Back in the heyday of those Ekco sets, a number of small suppliers produced replacement housings. The simplest one I recall was just a sheet of perspex formed into an inverted 'U' shape, not dissimilar to the one shown in post #3 here: https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/show...p?t=130873
In the same thread, someone has built one from fibreglass and another is made from cardboard! Before I read the text I thought it was lengths of uPVC mouldings cemented together!
