With regard to the cathode resistors, I assume you reduced the voltage - what did you aim for?
I did think that the electroytics would be ok but I will run an ESR over them - I usually only replace electrolytics as a last resort unless they reached their life expectancy i.e. don't work.
One thing I am surprised with albeit I've only had a little dabble with the amp - the volume for a 15-18watt amp is not that great through the instrument input.
At the moment I just want to get it up and running with a view to a 'restoration' at a later date.
