One slight correction. With a single LED the flicker frequency will be 50Hz. With 2 LEDs back to back it will be 100Hz.
My first thought about using these was for something like the DAC90A. It would be very easy to fit the LED and series resistor to the base of a dud MES bulb. The result is easily reversible and, I would imagine, the light output much greater.
