Not the the Post Office but I've seen largish boxes containing electronic equipment thrown to the ground from the back of a box wagon.
Earlier this year I ordered a second-hand boxed set containing 20 or so CDs in their own jewel cases in a nice substantial flip top presentation box. Astonishingly, the well-known second-hand book seller who sells through Amazon and Ebay, and you would think would know better, posted it Royal Mail with a self seal plastic packing bag its only protection. It arrived in a predictably smashed and sorry state. How they thought it would survive I don't know. Shame - it had obviously been a nice item when it was despatched.
